THE ALGOL N°11 TV SET

The Algol n°11 TV set is an inclined screen with a recessed carrying-handle. It is a pet object, Marco Zanuso comparing it to a little dog peering over its master.

A light yet unbreakable plastic hull, with bright colors and chrome, make it a very « visual » object, that does a good job in hiding the important development needed to conceive it.   Here, the techniques hide behind the design.   The object is no longer « unique », detached from its reality, but totally inscribed in an environment that must be figured in during the conception.

Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper, who designed the TV set, conceived several dessiné major objects of their period, for the Brionvega company that will make the TV in 1964.
